China has warned that future China trade ties with the European Union could be suspended if ongoing negotiations fail to deliver concrete results. The warning emerged ahead of a key meeting in Brussels between Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao and European Trade Commissioner Maro\u0161 \u0160ef\u010dovi\u010d.<\/p>\n
The dispute reflects growing friction between the two economic powers over market access, industrial subsidies, and an expanding trade imbalance. According to reports linked to China Central Television (CCTV), Beijing believes the European Union has adopted a more confrontational stance since opening investigations into Chinese subsidies for electric vehicle manufacturers.<\/p>\n
Chinese officials argue that the bloc increasingly relies on regulatory measures and stricter standards to restrict foreign companies’ access to the European market. Beijing also views recent EU actions as part of a broader effort to strengthen its negotiating position through pressure rather than cooperation.<\/p>\n

EU imports from China increased by 3.4% from the previous quarter to approximately \u20ac145 billion. Meanwhile, European exports to China declined by 4.8%, further widening the deficit.<\/p>\n
Trade data showed that electrical equipment, machinery, and mechanical components remained the largest categories exchanged between both sides in 2025. Imports of machinery and mechanical parts recorded the strongest growth, followed by organic chemicals.<\/p>\n
