Casablanca Finance City and Istanbul Financial Center have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening financial cooperation between Morocco, T\u00fcrkiye, and African markets. The agreement marks a new step in efforts to increase investment flows, promote regional financial integration, and expand collaboration between two major financial hubs.<\/p>\n
The memorandum was signed at the headquarters of Istanbul Financial Center in Istanbul by Casablanca Finance City Authority Chief Executive Officer Sa\u00efd Ibrahimi and Istanbul Financial Center Director General Ahmet \u0130hsan Erdem. The partnership focuses on green finance, digital finance, professional training programs, and initiatives designed to attract financial institutions, multinational companies, holding groups, and specialized service providers.<\/p>\n
A central objective of the agreement is the creation of a financial corridor linking Casablanca and Istanbul. The initiative seeks to strengthen economic connections between Eurasia and Africa while facilitating cross-border investment opportunities.<\/p>\n
The partnership comes as trade relations between Morocco and T\u00fcrkiye continue to expand. According to Sa\u00efd Ibrahimi, bilateral trade reached a record $5 billion in 2025. He described this milestone as an opportunity to move beyond commercial exchanges and encourage stronger investment cooperation between the two countries.<\/p>\n
Ibrahimi said Casablanca Finance City is well positioned to channel capital flows and support Turkish institutions seeking a sustainable presence across African markets. He emphasized the role of the financial hub as a gateway for businesses looking to expand their operations throughout the continent.<\/p>\n
For his part, Ahmet \u0130hsan Erdem said the agreement is expected to create new business opportunities across the financial ecosystems of T\u00fcrkiye, Morocco, and Africa. He stressed that partnerships with international financial centers are important for strengthening Istanbul\u2019s position within regional and global financial networks.<\/p>\n
Erdem also pointed to Casablanca Finance City\u2019s influence across Africa, describing it as one of the continent\u2019s leading financial centers. He expressed confidence that growing economic relations between T\u00fcrkiye and African countries would generate additional opportunities for financial institutions operating in both regions.<\/p>\n
In a separate interview with Yeni \u015eafak English, Erdem explained that the cooperation builds on existing collaboration within the World Alliance of International Financial Centers. The agreement is intended to facilitate knowledge sharing, sector-specific cooperation, and stronger integration of regional business networks.<\/p>\n
The new partnership expands Casablanca Finance City Authority\u2019s international network, which already includes cooperation agreements with major financial organizations in the United Kingdom, Luxembourg, Qatar, Canada, and Singapore.<\/p>\n
Economic ties between Morocco and T\u00fcrkiye already rest on a significant business presence. More than 250 Turkish companies operate in Morocco, accounting for nearly $1 billion in investments and supporting around 20,000 jobs. Both parties aim to strengthen this foundation through joint investment projects, innovation initiatives, and institutional cooperation.<\/p>\n
Established in 2010, Casablanca Finance City has developed into Africa\u2019s leading financial center according to the Global Financial Centres Index. The platform hosts nearly 280 international companies operating across 53 African countries.<\/p>\n
The agreement positions Casablanca and Istanbul as strategic gateways connecting Europe, the Mediterranean region, and Africa. Both institutions aim to increase capital mobility and support deeper financial integration across these interconnected markets.<\/p>\n
