EA CEO Andrew Wilson earned $38.6 million after Battlefield layoffs
Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson received total compensation of $38.6 million for fiscal year 2026, according to the company’s latest filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The disclosure has drawn attention because it follows Battlefield layoffs that affected developers across several of the publisher’s studios earlier this year.
Wilson’s compensation package included a base salary of $1.3 million, more than $28 million in stock awards, $6.5 million in bonuses, and additional payments covering travel and other expenses. The total marks an increase of roughly $8 million compared with the $30.5 million he earned during fiscal year 2025.
Electronic Arts said the compensation reflected the achievement of performance targets tied to the successful launch of Battlefield 6. According to the filing, the company met its quality objectives, secured positive critical reception, and maintained stable online services following the game’s release. Battlefield 6 sold more than seven million copies during its first three days after launching in October 2025.
Earlier in March 2026, Electronic Arts carried out layoffs across all four studios responsible for the Battlefield franchise. The affected teams included DICE in Sweden, Criterion in the United Kingdom, Ripple Effect in California, and Motive in Canada. The company did not disclose the number of employees impacted.
Electronic Arts said the workforce reductions were targeted organizational adjustments designed to better align Battlefield teams with the needs of the game’s community. The publisher also described Battlefield as one of its highest strategic priorities.
The layoffs were first reported by IGN, which said multiple teams and office locations were affected while all four Battlefield studios remained in operation. The cuts represented the second round of job reductions announced by Electronic Arts within a two-month period.
The compensation disclosure also highlights the widening pay gap inside the company. For fiscal year 2025, Electronic Arts reported a CEO-to-median employee pay ratio of 260 to 1, with the median employee earning $117,302 annually. Wilson’s higher compensation for fiscal year 2026 is expected to increase that ratio further.
According to previously reported figures, Wilson’s latest compensation package also exceeds his fiscal year 2024 earnings by more than $10 million, underscoring the continued growth of executive pay during a period marked by workforce reductions.
