Iran launched missile and drone attacks targeting locations across several Gulf countries following US strikes on Iranian targets, prompting widespread condemnation from Gulf governments and Jordan amid growing concerns over regional stability.

The latest escalation came despite a memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran that sought to end the conflict. Reports indicated that the renewed attacks could undermine efforts to deescalate tensions between the two countries.

The United States said it carried out strikes against Iran after citing an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps action involving a Cyprus registered container ship that Tehran claimed was using an unauthorized route through the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps also said it struck a second vessel, accusing it of violating regulations.

US Central Command later announced a new round of operations against Iran. According to the command, at least 140 targets were hit as part of efforts to increase pressure on Tehran and reduce its ability to attack civilian and commercial shipping moving through the strait.

In response, Iran launched a new wave of missile and drone attacks that it said targeted US facilities in Gulf countries, including the United Arab Emirates.

Tehran also claimed responsibility for drone attacks against US military sites in Kuwait and Bahrain. Iran further stated that ballistic missiles were launched toward Qatar’s Al Udeid airbase.

Kuwait said its armed forces were responding to hostile targets in its airspace and urged residents to follow official security and safety instructions.

Qatar raised its threat level and issued security alerts, urging people to remain indoors or seek safe locations. The country’s Interior Ministry said falling debris injured at least three people, including a child.

Kuwait condemned the attacks on Qatar, describing them as a dangerous escalation that could deepen regional instability. The government said it reserved the right to take any measures necessary to protect its national security.

Jordan also condemned the strikes, calling them a blatant violation against Gulf countries. The kingdom said the attacks threatened regional stability and territorial integrity and represented a breach of international law.
